Christian Yoga
Although yoga asana classes are open to people of any religion, classes aimed specifically at Christians are becoming increasingly popular in the Unites States. Some devout Christians find themselves uncomfortable with yoga’s vestiges of Hinduism, including the use of Sanskrit terminology and devotional chants. Others see yoga’s ability to quiet the mind as an opportunity to seek a deeper relationship with their Christian faith and enjoy classes that foster that bond.

Dragonfly Pose Is the Yoga Pose of the Week
Dragonfly pose is kind of a crazy arm balance. When I was breaking it down, I realized it’s flying crow meets side crow with a little extra twist of something special. I’ve also seen this pose called hummingbird, and just to make things more confusing, there is a different yin yoga pose that is also called dragonfly. Remember what Aunt Yoga always says about why poses have a variety of names?
Pigeon Pose – Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (Prep Version) Is the Yoga Pose of the Week
Once upon a time, many years ago, I was not a fan of pigeon pose. Then I got pregnant and it became the best thing in the world to me. Yoga during pregnancy is like that. As your body changes, each pose feels completely different, some better and some worse than before. I’m glad to say that my affection for pigeon has stayed. If this pose is tough for you, try moving your front foot closer to your hip. If you want more of a challenge, edge toward bringing your shin parallel with the front of your mat.
You Sheeky? Er, Not So Much
If you read Yoga Journal, you’ve probably seen the ads for meSheeky’s line of yoga skirts. You know, the ones with the model’s butt on prominent display? If you’ve ever wondered what that’s all about, see what happened when I took a few meSheekys for a test run.
