A Guide to Women’s Health Organizations

When it comes to your health, staying healthy means staying informed. Whether you have questions about disease prevention or you want to get educated after a diagnosis, women’s organizations offer extensive resources online.

The following women’s health organizations address a wide range of women’s health issues — from sexual and reproductive health to the major illnesses affecting women today like cancer and heart disease. Healthy women can stay that way by getting the latest advice for protecting against disease and, when facing a health condition, the latest treatments for conquering it.

The National Women’s Health Information Center (NWHIC)
800-994-9662

This women’s organization is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Office on Women’s Health (OWH) — created in 1991, the OWH has a mission to encourage the health of girls and women.

The NWHIC provides up-to-date information on a number of women’s health issues through pamphlets and its Web site, where you can ask a question or make a comment. You’ll find information on more than 800 women’s health issues, as well as statistics and resources for women who need help, and all of it is free.
